Five Series on Ethnic Issues

Since March, 2011, Leiden University has access to 国家民委《民族问题五种丛书》”the State Commission’s Five Series on Ethnic Issues” through Chinese ebook portal Apabi. This official government publication on the history, culture, languages, sociology and politcs of China’s 55 official minorites consists of a series of 364 volumes.

This large series focuses on five main subjects:

  • Chinese minorities in general (中国少数民族, 1 volume)
  • history of Chinese minorities (中国少数民族简史丛书, 55 volumes)
  • languages of Chinese minorities (中国少数民族语言简志丛书, 6 volumes)
  • setup of special regions for China’s minorities (中国少数民族自治地方概况丛书, 155 volumes); and
  • China’s official (> 1949) research on the society and history of Chinese minorities (中国少数民族社会历史调查丛刊, 147 volumes)
